Oracle: Cloud 2020

Cloud Accelerates with Urgency

The first-generation of cloud technology transformed businesses and bred countless new firms with pioneering business models. Second-generation cloud gives the same businesses the ability to master the intelligent technologies that are increasingly integral to competitiveness.

But fresh, new insight on second-generation cloud and its impact is hard to come by. To change this, Oracle commissioned a new study of 1,150 senior executives to paint a fresh picture.

In partnership with FT Longitude, Oracle investigated where second-generation cloud fits within the broader cloud strategy, striving to make a PR splash in a saturated market and bolster existing content partnerships with leading business publications.

The digital-first report is hosted on Oracle.com’s homepage, and highlights that cloud adoption is accelerating with an urgency only quickened by the global health and economic crisis. In fact, the research found that by 2025, the share of firms using cloud native will double and 65% of business operations will be migrated to or running directly in the cloud.

Whilst the programme represents an incredible number of positive new insights into cloud adoption, it also highlights the challenges: 17% of firms report that their technology infrastructure is still incompatible with the cloud—hindering their progress.
